The notes are not extensive but include tips on fishing, remarks on the prowess of another young fisherman, "Ernest Stanley Herbert Brock died 21st March 1904 aged 16," and a short list of dates on which presents of fishing tackle were received: "Sergt. Foster gave me my four piece rod on 26th February 1900. Father gave me my split cane rod by Murton on Sunday 26th February 1905, mother gave me this fly book on 25th Decr. 1899."
