HEARNE, Samuel. A Journey from Prince of Wale's Fort in Hudson's Bay to the Northern Ocean. Undertaken by order of the Hudson's Bay Company for the discovery of copper mines, a North West passage, &c., in the years 1769, 1770, 1771 & 1772, London: for A. Strahan and T. Cadell, sold by T. Cadell Jun. and W. Davies, 1795, 4°, FIRST EDITION, large paper copy, folding frontispiece map with Hearne's tracks hand-coloured in outline, 5 engraved plates and 3 plans numbered 1-8, all but one double page, by S.J. Neele after the author, with final leaf giving Directions to the Binder on verso (some browning of plates and maps, the large map slightly torn along central fold and with old repairs on verso, some spotting and soiling of text, mainly at margins, 3D4 poorly impressed, 3N1 torn at lower margin), later calf-backed marbled boards preserving (?) original orange wrappers (upper cover detached).
