the breakarch case with gilt-metal foliate cast urn finials to the top, Corinthian columns to the front, arched sound frets and handles to the sides, on rectangular moulded base with bracket feet, with silvered plaque inscribed PRESENTED IN Commemoration OF THE 4TH JUNE 1899, the arched dial with gilt-metal anthemion spandrels, silvered chapter ring, matted centre, with subsidiary rings to the arch for Cambridge Chimes and Chimes on 8 bells, the substantial four pillar movement with anchor escapement, hour strike on gong and chimes on nine bells, the backplate incised with foliate scrolls, with incised pendulum bob -- 18½in.(47cm.); and the wall bracket en suite, the scroll supports mounted with gilt-metal caryatids trailing flowers
