LA ROMANEE FROM LEROY
The La Romanee vineyard is often expressed in hushed tones even among Burgundy enthusiasts. It is the smallest of the Grand Crus at .8452 ha, as well as being the smallest appellation in France; the production averaging about 300 cases per annum.
La Romanee, Leroy--Vintage 1962
5ICôte de Nuits, French-bottled: Leroy
Levels: two 3cm, two 3.5cm or better; late release from the Domaine. very slightly bin-soiled labels, excellent appearance
"Lovely colour; initially not very clear-cut, a mild 'beetroot' aroma, opening up fragrantly but showing its age; better on the palate, sweet and soft, yet with quite a bite. Good length, dry finish." **** M.B., Sep 2005
