A COLLECTION OF RARE OLD RIOJA
Collections of Rioja such as this only make their way to auction once or twice a decade. Rioja is a wine that could, perhaps, be described as overlooked and underrated in an era when fine Bordeaux and Grand Cru Burgundy seem to dominate in both the primary and secondary market. For this reason it gives us immense pleasure to introduce an extraordinary Spanish cellar that offers Rioja lovers an opportunity to acquire some of the rarest, most iconic Riojas ever to be bottled. It is a collection that exemplifies the elegance and longevity of Rioja, offering vintages from 1917 through every subsequent decade of 20th century. The collector's taste was impeccable and over a lifetime, he assembled a cellar that ran broad and deep. All the celebrated, traditional Rioja producers are well represented including wines from all of the following:
Marqués de Riscal, Marqués de Murrieta Castillo Ygay, Viña Tondonia, Muga, Contino, Paternina, Viña Pomal, Viña Albina, Monte Real, La Rioja Alta and C.V.N.E.
