Edo period (18th century) by Nakamura Sotetsu III (1699-1776)
Cylindrical with round, fitted lid and lacquered in black
2½in. (6.3cm.) high, 2 3/8in. (6cm.) diameter
With wood box signed, sealed and titled Ko natsume by the artist, the underside of natsume lid signed by Urasenke grandmaster Sen Soshitsu VIII (Itto; 1719-1771) with kao (cursive monogram) in red lacquer
