The domed gadrooned moulded cornice surmounted by turned finials, above a stiff-leaf carved frieze, the uprights carved with berried-husks, the panelled sides with ribbon, on a berried foliate-carved moulded plinth, the sides decorated with ribbon-tied garlands, putti, musical and martial trophies and with the coat-of-arms of the House of Orléans beneath an open coronet of fleur-de-lys to the door and reverse, the door with a glazed panel and enclosing a cut velvet-lined interior, lacking poles

Louis Philippe II (1747-1793), widely known as Philippe, was father to King Louis Philippe, who came to the throne in the July Revolution of 1830. Philippe supported the Revolution, even changing his name to Philippe Egalité in 1792. However, as a member of the Bourbon family he nevertheless suffered the same fate as his cousin Louis XVI, going to the guillotine during the Reign of Terror in November 1793.
