EARLY 20TH CENTURY, INCORPORATING AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY DIAL BY B. VANDER CLOESE, THE HAGUE
CASE: inlaid with floral marquetry to front and sides, moulded arched hood with glazed side panels, canted angles flanking narrow trunk door, on plinth with volute front angles and stylised paw front feet, with inventory label 'D1268' DIAL: 12 in. square brass dial with later applied arch, engraved borders, mask and foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring, signed 'B. VANDER CLOESE HAGE', matted centre with now fixed alarm-setting disc, subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture (covered) MOVEMENT: the associated four pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside rack strike on bell; pendulum, two lead weights, crank key
