Lot Essay

The present lot is a small cast of the sculpture that was Wolkers' contribution to the Prix de Rome of 1953.
The larger cast was also commissioned by Museum De Lakenhal, Leiden, which has been at the public park The Plantsoen, Leiden, since 1958.
