Lot Essay

The chakras in the yogini drawing are described as centers in the body at which psychic forces and bodily functions merge together, and is the basis for yoga practice. See A. Mookerjee, Tantra Art, 1971, p. 143. The pataka is a type of astrological diagram used in naming a child. Next to the principal figure are diagrams filled with texts and mantras and auspicious sounds. See J. van Alphen, Steps to Liberation, 2000, p. 127.
