A rare sandstone stele of Ganesha
Vietnam, Cham period, 15th century
Well-carved with the four-armed Ganesha seated in dhyanasana, his primary arms in his lap holding a sweet and a book and his secondary arms holding a lotus and elephant goad, wearing a short dhoti with incised hem secured at the waist with a belt and further adorned with anklets, bracelets, armlets and a pendant collar, his elephant head with almond-shaped eyes, rounded tusks and his trunk curling to his left, flanked by fanned ears surmounted by a jeweled headdress
