CASE: surmounted by a laurel-framed cameo flanked by two cherub-masks above a rectangular enamel plaque, with bulb thermometer marked with the centigrade scale, flanked by fluted pilasters, above a further cameo surrounded by flower-filled cornucopia and a vase-shaped terminal DIAL: white enamel with Roman numerals and pierced ormolu hands MOVEMENT: twin-barrels with countwheel strike on bell, pendulum and winding key

The present cartel d'applique is based on a model attributed to the bronzier Pierre-Joseph-Désiré Gouthière (d. 1813), formerly at the Château de Saint-Cloud and now in the permanent collection at the Musée du Louvre (cat. nos 392 and 393).
