Compare the hu of this type and similar date illustrated by J. So, Eastern Zhou Ritual Bronzes from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections, Arthur M. Sackler Foundation, 1995, pp. 278-9, no. 5, and later sold in these rooms, 25-26 March 2010, lot 1019. Although of slightly larger size (29.1 cm. high) and not quite so bulbous a shape, the Sackler hu has similar bands of curl pattern and a similar inlaid copper dogtooth band encircling the neck, as well as a similar foot and handles.
