AN UNUSUAL CLOISONNE ENAMEL TRIPOD CENSER AND COVER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Raised on three tall inverted bird-scroll supports decorated with prunus and 'cracked ice' pattern repeated on the body, neck and domed cover, with a band of petal lappets on the shoulder and a pair of gilt-copper dragon scroll handles, the cover with a ruyi collar below the large knop cast in openwork with bats in flight amidst vaporous clouds, with an apocryphal Jingtai mark inscribed on a circular roundel on the underside of the censer
