A RARE IVORY-INSET BUDDHIST WALL PANEL
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Finely inlaid with Buddha seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base, with right hand holding an alms bowl and left hand in bhumisparsa mudra, dressed in thick layered robes left open at the chest, the broad face with serene expression beneath the tight whorls of hair surmounted by the usnisa, with remnants of red and blue pigment, all reserved on the brown and ochre lacquer ground and set into a hardwood frame fitted with brass hanger at the top
