A COPPER-RED AND UNDERGLAZE-BLUE SANDUO STEM BOWL
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE IN A LINE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)
With deep, rounded sides raised on a tall spreading foot and flaring slightly at the rim, the exterior painted in soft copper red with a peach, pomegranate and persimmon (sanduo) borne on leafy branches painted in underglaze blue, all reserved on a ground of very pale blue-green color

Lot Essay

This design is found on a similar Yongzheng-marked stem bowl in the Palace Museum Collection, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Treasures of the Palace Musuem - 36 - Blue and White Porcelain with Underglazed Red (III), Hong Kong, p. 223, no. 204. Another is illustrated in Gu Tao Ci Zi Liao Cui, Beijing, 2005, 150, no. 128. See, also, the example where the mark has been effaced, which was dated to the Yongzheng period and sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 1 June 2011, lot 3918.
