XIANFENG SIX-CHARACTER MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1851-1861)

The present bowls are exceptionally well carved, and their high quality may suggest that they date to early in the Xianfeng period. A Xianfeng- marked bowl with the same design, although glazed in reddish-brown, is illustrated by G. Avitabile, From the Dragon's Treasure, London, 1987, p. 78, no. 107.
