The sides decorated with panels of various shapes painted with scenes of women, the two larger panels with two women and a poetic inscription followed by the signature Liu Zongxun and two seals, all within decorative borders and reserved on a dense ground of lotus sprays and foliate scroll, between a petal lappet band on the tall, spreading foot and decorative borders on the shoulder, the waisted neck with oval reserves of 'antiques', and the top and interior of the flared mouth with further decorative borders, the base with a dragon and phoenix medallion within a pale blue scroll border reserved on a yellow ground

Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1950s, and thence by descent within the family.
