A RARE BRONZE SQUARE SEAL
JIN DYNASTY, DATED BY INSCRIPTION TO THE 2ND YEAR OF THE REIGN OF DA'AN, CORRESPONDING TO 1210
With very slightly flared sides and a rectangular handle with slightly rounded top, the inscription on the top reading Da'an er nian jiu yue (ninth month of the second year of the reign of Da'an) and Libu zao (made by the Board of Rites), one side inscribed Yue wang fu wenxue yin (seal of literature from the King Yue mansion), and the seal face cast with the same six characters in seal script

A bronze seal of similar shape and with stylistically similar seal face, dated to the Jin dynasty (1115-1234), is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 30 - Ancient Seals, Hong Kong, 2008, no. 341.
