Lot Essay

The inscription cartouche reads: Safaresh (Commissioned by) Muhammed Reza Khan Tehrani. Farmayesh-e hazrat-e aqdas-e vala Farmanfarma (Commanded by his Most Holy, Exalted Excellency Farmanfarma).
Given the date of this carpet it would seem likely that the Farmanfarma who commissioned this carpet was the son of Abdul Husayn Mirza.
