With sunken octagonal panel with sloping sides, in a flat border resting on vertical sides, the central medallion with knotted six-pointed star, with panels with kufic inscriptions above and below, the borders with a long benedictory inscription in naskh divided by rosettes

In the borders in cursive: al-'izz wa al-iqbal wa a/l-dawla wa al-sa'ada/wa al-salama wa al-ta/mma wa al-ni'ma wa al-kirama wa
al-far/agha wa al-qana'a wa a/l-shafa'a wa al-kifa/ya wa al-shukra wa al-da/wama wa al-nusra wa a/l-'afiya wa al-shakira wa al-fara/gha wa al-baqa li-sahibihi
(Glory and Prosperity and Wealth and Happiness and Well-being and Plenitude and (God's) Grace and Generosity and Repose and Contentment and (Prophet's) Intercession and Sufficiency and Gratitude and Endurance and Victory and Health and Gratefulness and Repose and Long-life to its owner).

Inside in kufic: bi'l-yumn wa al-baraka wa al-d/awla wa al-surur wa al-tamma (With Good-fortune and Blessing and Joy and Plenitude).

This lot appears to have originally been intended as a set of four. Two almost identical trays were sold at Sotheby's London, 24 October 2007, lots 96 and 97.
