An expert on Islamic architetcure, Albert Gabriel came to Turkey in 1926, and became the first director of L'Institut Français d'Archéologie in Istanbul in 1930, preparing this and similar reports for the protection of historic buildings. Vol. I of the present work deals with monuments at Kayseri-Nigde, vol. II with sites at Amasya, Tokat, and Sivas. (2)
