A Chinese blue and white bowl
Kangxi (1662-1722)
Painted to the exterior with two scenes from 'The Romance of the Western Chamber' divided by calligraphy, the interior roundel painted with three boys at play, small chip, minor hairline rim crack
20 cm. diam.
Together with a set of four Chinese blue and white soup plates, 18th Century, each painted to the central roundel with two figures with servants near a pagoda in a garden landscape, the well with cartouches of flowers reserved on a diaper-pattern ground, beneath a composite border at the rim, one with small rim restoration, one with baking flaw, 21.5 cm. diam. (5)
