Two Japanese Imari baluster jars and covers
19th 20th Century
One painted to the ribbed sides with two panels each enclosing a gentleman and a boy in a flower-garden with cranes, divided by further shaped panels enclosing dragons and shishi lions, the cover with lion finial, restoration to base, 80 cm. high; and the other painted to the hexagonal sides with two shaped panels of flowering branches, reserved on a ruyi ground, the shoulder with alternate scroll and diaper-pattern panels, the neck decorated with shaped cartouches enclosing flowers, the cover with lion finial, cover and neck restored, 64.5 cm. high (2)
