CENTRAL IRAN, CIRCA 1200
Of rounded form with cusped rim on short spreading foot, the white interior painted in underglaze turquoise together with a variety of overglaze enamel colours with a central cypress tree flanked by two mounted horsemen, other figures around together with birds and floral sprays, in a border of blue stylised kufic inscriptions with scrolling leaves, a band of dotted motifs around the rim, the exterior moulded into radiating panels, each painted with red and blue arabesques and lobed motifs, repaired clean breaks
8 3/8in. (21.2cm.) diam.
