Possibly from a saddle cover, each a long rectangular panel with one pointed terminal, the red or bichrome red and tan silk ground embroidered in brilliantly coloured silks and appliqué strips of gold forming panels of tendrils issuing a variety of flowers including lotuses and rosettes around flying simurghs, framed by borders of repeated symbols, a few scattered stains, very slight loss of gilt bands, otherwise very good condition

The design on this panel is almost identical to that in the preceding lot. Even the border has the same succession of four very similar motifs, each very precisely drawn to show the difference between them. It is very possible that these two panels were originally attached to the preceding lot between the ivory panels of very similar design and weave.
