The inscriptions in the cartouche on the blade read, banda-ye shah-e vilayat isfahani, 'Slave of the King of Trusteeship (i.e. 'Ali), Isfahani'. This is presumably intended to refer to Asadullah Isfahani. These is another, possibly added, inscription which reads, shahanshah jahangir sana 1612 'ayn, 'Shahanshah Jahangir year 1612'.
