In 1919 Wadsworth ceased to be part of the London Group, of which he was a founder member. Wadsworth dedicated the second half of the the year to small scale works of the Black Country, and following the overwhelming success of these works at the Leicester Galleries exhibition in 1920 his work was published by Ovid Press. The same year Wadsworth contributed to Wyndham Lewis's Group X exhibtion at the Mansard Gallery; the nine members of the short lived group included William Roberts, Frank Dobson, Charles Ginner and John Turnbull.
