Modeled as a blindfolded muse and a seated warrior, she holding a quill in one hand, a ledger in the other, a lyre, trumpet, paintbrushes and easel at the base, he with a lion skin, sword, plumed helmet and shield with the face of Medusa, the waisted Neo Rococo base enriched with and strapwork, on four rocaille-moulded feet

Lot Essay

This group, identified as Mars und die Geschichte, was first produced in Berlin circa 1766. See E. Köllmann, Berliner Porzellan 1863-1963, Berlin, 1966, tafel 45. Friedrich Elias Meyer also modeled figures for the Meissen porcelain factory.
