Lot Essay

An earlier example of this design type is in the collection of the Glencairn Museum, Academy of the New Church, Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, and is illustrated in D. Dodds and M. Eiland, Oriental Rugs From Atlantic Collections, Philadelphia, 1996, pl. 70. Another similar example with a nearly identical border can be found in E. Herrmann, Von Uschak Bis Yarkand, Munich, no. 17.
