THE MOVEMENT WITH MARK OF FRERES ROCHAT; THE CASE WITH MARKS OF GEORGE REMOND AND PIGUET & CAPT, GENEVA, CIRCA 1813
Rounded rectangular, the base, sides and cover with panels of blue and black guilloché enamel, the cover and watch dials (one hour and minutes, one seconds) with pearl-set borders, the oval cover painted with a scene of a mother and child with father looking on, one end with a key compartment, the oval cover opening to an engraved field with a hatch for the bird; the bird movement fusée, playing four musical phrases (birdsong-folksong-folksong-birdsong), the time movement standing fixed barrel, the music movement standing motor barrel, with later key, the bird and time movements each marked FR in oval punch; the mainspring apparently original, signed JLB Marchand and dated January 1813; the key compartment stamped twice with maker's mark GRC in lozenge and retailer's mark P&C in oval, also struck with French control mark for 1809-1819
