Lot Essay

The 'Body' is not only an organism that has clearly defined boundaries, but it is also a tool of social and sexual representation, whereas the external appearance or manifestation refers to the social identity rather than personal identity. In Hepsev's work, The Table we are presented with two female figures who hint at being city dwellers yet have been posed and hidden from view in an unusual manner. The table form, achieved through a display of the legs countered with a plaid blanket, makes implications as to how slippery or near impossible it is to convey the physical manifestation.
