TWO SIMILAR LATE VICTORIAN ORMOLU-MOUNTED DOORS, ONE WITH ITS ORIGINAL DOOR FRAME
LATE 19TH CENTURY
The first door finished to one side in satinbirch with four simple uncarved panels, its reverse side finished in oak panelled and carved with two Renaissance-style cartouches; the second door panelled and carved in oak to match the above, its reverse side in chequer-strung satinwood, uncarved, but with ebonised panel mouldings; the door frame in satinwood to match the satinwood side of the second door, its uprights modelled as fluted Corinthinan pilasters, the reverse side unfinished, the French Régence-style ormolu hinges stamped I. BRAMAH 194 PICCADILLY
The door frame 95 in. (241 cm.) high; approx. 51 in. (130 cm.) wide; 5½ in. (14 cm.) deep; the doors 81 in. (206 cm.) high; 35¼ in. (89.5 cm.) wide (2)
