The carved head, possibly representing a French monarch, above the French Royal coat-of-arms, inscribed 'NO PARTIE TAKE HE THAT IS WILLING PEACE FOR TO MAKE MUST BE IN DIFFERENT AND .. ' to the handles, the reverse carved with a zoomorphic beast
