A SILVER-MOUNTED NAUTILUS SHELL JUG
PROBABLY ORIGINALLY 17TH CENTURY WITH SOME OF THE MOUNTS OF LATER DATES
Apparently a nautilus cup cut down and converted for use as a jug, the silver-gilt rim and spout probably original, with bead edge and engraved with linear borders with diagonal bands, the parcel-gilt foot 18th century, mark of SLB conjoined, an unidentified incuse mark, a zig-zag assay scrape and a later Swedish control mark, the silver upper mount scalloped and decorated with four small stars, mark of Per Gustaf Strömberg, Linköping, circa 1810 and later Swedish control mark
