AN ARCHAIC RITUAL BRONZE FOOD TRIPOD VESSEL, DING
SHANG DYNASTY (C.1600-1100 BC)
The deep rounded body cast with a band of three taotie masks, each centred on small raised flanges and on a ground of leiwen, above a band of cicada pendant blades, supported by three cylindrical legs and surmounted by upright loop handles, with a pictogram to the centre of the interior, the vessel with an overall mottled milky green and rust-brown patina with some encrustation
