Lot Essay

The hallmark KHC is that of Khecheong, one of the most prolific silversmiths working in Canton during the mid to late 19th century. The four panels of inscriptions may be translated as:
'Getting drunk after the banquet
I sleep under the curtains with the clouds as my pillow
Holding the shadows beside the flowers
Not knowing how many years have passed during my sweet dream'
