A RARE IRON-RED-DECORATED BLUE AND WHITE 'DRAGON' CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
The top surface of the domed cover finely painted in shades of iron-red and underglaze blue, with two scaly five-clawed dragons divided by a shou-character medallion in the centre, surrounded by clouds and flames, the rounded sides of the box with five bats, wufu, in flight amongst further clouds and flames, above crashing waves rising from the short foot
8¼ in. (21 cm.) diam.
