oval black tortoiseshell box, the cover inset with an oval portrait miniature on ivory depicting a young lady facing left in a blue dress with lace and red ribbon décolletage, upswept hair dressed in curls and decorated with flowers, the cover, base and sides inlaid with gold piqué stripes, within chased ribbon-twist gold borders
