A RARE QIANGJIN AND TIANQI LACQUER RUYI
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Finely decorated in qiangjin and tianqi technique reserved against a brown lacquer ground on the ruyi form head with a full-face dragon coiled around a flaming pearl above cresting waves and rockwork, the wide mid-section and end of the shaft decorated with panels of flowering branches, the narrow shaft detailed with bats in flight amidst clouds, all picked out in black, red and green within gold-filled incised lines and set against wan diaper grounds, the end of the shaft incised with an apocryphal Wanli six-character mark
