A RARE EMBROIDERED CIVIL OFFICIAL'S 'CRANE' RANK BADGE, BUZI
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Made for a first rank official, embroidered in satin stitch in tones of blue, pink, green, red and white, the centre with a crane standing with one leg raised and the other supported on rockwork, its raised head turned towards the sun, amidst ruyi-form clouds, against a ground of couched gold thread, above rolling waves incorporating auspicious emblems of coral and be-ribboned musical chime
10 5/8 in. (27 cm.) square, mounted and framed
