Tan morocco, double fillet gilt border, each volume with a central scene after the frontispiece or depicting a scene from one of Tennyson's works, with elaborate onlays of varying shades of olive, tan, plum, pink, blue, red, green and brown, spine in five compartments with four raised bands, gilt lettered in two, repeated gilt tooling in others, turn-ins gilt, peach silk doublures and endpapers, top edges gilt, others uncut.
