"I ardently wish to have the pecuniary arrangements which you kindly undertook completed, if possible; for it is impossible for the opposite party to increase in their disposition to injure me in every possible way. I will endeavor to see you in the course of tomorrow or next day..." -- [LAFAYETTE.] Autograph letter (accomplished and signed in a secretarial hand) to the AMERICAN MINISTERS AT PARIS, Paris, 12 May 1783. 2 pp., folio, blank integral leaf. Reports on his conversation with Vergennes: "The several powers, said he, are going to make up their Treaties, and when ready to sign they will meet to do it all together.
