A large Regency teapot
of tapering moulded circular form, on a rising foot and with a rising curved spout, scroll handle with Chinaman thumb piece, gadroon and foliate everted rim and domed hinged cover with stalk, leaf and berry finial, chased and embossed overall with rococo flowers, foliage and C-scrolls on textured grounds and with two shell and C-scroll cartouches, one engraved with a crest, the other with an armorial, Thomas Wallis & Jonathan Hayne, London 1819 - 8¾in. (22.25cm.), 34oz.

By family tradition this teapot was purchased from Alton Towers, Staffordshire in the 1920s, although the crest and armorial engraved upon it are not those of the Sneyd family then resident.
