Lot Essay

This and the following lots appear to come from the Yao People, from the Tea Mountain area of Jinxiu, north of Guangxi. See Costumes Traditionnels de la Chine du Sud Ouest, Musee de Tissus de Lyon, 2002, page 96, illustrating a Daoist robe with comparable embroidery.
