After a very mild winter and a wet spring, June and the beginning of July were particularly rainy. Then, from mid-July onwards, until the end of September, hot and very dry weather set in. Despite a few light rain showers at the beginning of the harvest, the picking was carried out in excellent conditions. (The picking began 3rd October)
Tasting note:
Most recently, noted at Wagner's second Margaux vertical: still pretty deep; crisp and fragrant, its nose this time reminding me not of dam dogs but throughbred stables (I don't ride theses days either, but you know what I mean). What did surprise me was that it was softer and more fragrant than I had expected, though lean and astringent after the '89. Nevertheless, a very good wine with considerable length, and future. Last tasted Nov 2000 **(**) Possibly 5-star when fully mature. Say 2010-2020. MB
