The story of 14-year Velvet Brown, who rides her horse to victory in the Grand National Steeplechase, was made into a film in 1944 starring a 12-year-old Elizabeth Taylor, Mickey Rooney and a young Angela Lansbury. The film was selected as one of the ten best sporting films ever released in the 2008 poll by the American Film Institute.
