A majolica 'Caterer' jug
designed by F. B. Russel, of tapering cylindrical form, moulded with the inscription WHAT THO MY GATES BE POOR TAKE THEM IN GOOD PART BETTER CHEER YOU MAY HAVE BUT NOT WITH BETTER HEART between moulded bands of oval beads within lozenge panels, the handle moulded with an ear of corn, the spout with scrolls and stylised foliage, enriched in colours, impressed marks, registration lozenge for 1867, date code for 1867 -- 8 5/8in. (21.9cm.) high
