PRINT ALBUM -- A large, finely bound album, now blank, English, late 18th- or early 19th-century. 2° (730 x 600mm), comprising 49 leaves of buff wove paper, prints neatly removed and now with no sign of use except for pencil numbers in top right hand corner of each leaf. Two manuscript leaves of captions for earlier contents laid-in. Late 18th- or early 19th-century English russia gilt, spine richly gilt in compartments with raised bands, each panel with central saltire and floral corner pieces with perched eagle, sides gilt with ruled and roll-tooled foliate frame, gilt inner dentelles and board edges, original green silk ties (lacking one pair of ties, sides scuffed, a deeper scuff near the foot of one side, extremities rubbed). Provenance: Christie's 6 June 2001 (part of lot 314). A handsomely bound album from an English stately house.
