WILLIAMSON, Henry (1895-1977). Four autograph letters (one partly typed) and three autograph postcards signed (a few with initials, one in third person) to E.J. Yaxley (one to Anne Yaxley), Braunton (North Devon) and London, 7 November 1962 - 28 February 1966 and n.d., encouraging the recipient to write for the newspapers, including on one occasion about sightings of kestrels in London, advising him however not to let his articles become an obligation like Williamson's, '"forced" to walk in order to find and force imagination to create a means of earning cash for wife and children', referring to his overwork (as a 'cause of family break-up'), and feelings of 'negation' and the 'hollowness of "fame"', and discussing the themes of his series A Chronicle of Ancient Sunlight, and friends including Edmund Blunden, T.E. Lawrence and G.B. Shaw; together 11 pages, various sizes; with an offprint of Williamson's essay Some nature writers and civilization, 1959, inscribed to Yaxley; and a letter by Richard Williamson.
